Company

Acuity CFO, LLC (“Acuity” or the “Company”) is an Atlanta, Georgia based client accounting services firm that provides outsourced bookkeeping, tax, controller, and CFO support to early stage and high growth companies. The business was founded in 2004 and initially focused on fractional CFO work before steadily expanding into a full client accounting services (“CAS”) platform. Today the Company operates with a fully remote team of more than 130 professionals located in the United States and internationally.

Acuity earned its reputation by combining technology-enabled service delivery with flexible engagement models and a strong commitment to client service. Its approach allowed the Company to support a wide range of industries including technology, e-commerce, and creative services. Acuity is also a certified B Corporation, reflecting its emphasis on social and environmental responsibility.

Situation

As the Company broadened its service lines and built international support teams, Acuity experienced meaningful expansion. These steps helped the business scale more efficiently, address rising client demand, and manage ongoing labor constraints across the accounting and finance sectors.

After nearly twenty years of continuous growth, the leadership team began evaluating the Company’s long-term path. Maintaining the same pace over the next decade would require additional investment, more leadership depth, and access to a broader organizational platform. At the same time, the accounting industry was undergoing a period of rapid consolidation, with larger firms and institutional investors showing increased interest in the client accounting services market.

To better understand its strategic options, the partners sought an advisor who could help evaluate potential paths forward, clarify valuation expectations, and, if appropriate, design a competitive process that aligned with the Company’s priorities. Bravaldo Capital Advisors (“BCA”) had a long-standing advisory relationship with Acuity and was chosen from several firms to lead the Company through this review.

Advisory Role

Serving as Acuity’s exclusive financial advisor, BCA led a comprehensive planning and sale process. The engagement involved preparing updated financial and operational materials, highlighting the strengths of Acuity’s business model, and shaping a clear narrative around the Company’s future direction.
BCA then conducted targeted outreach to a wide group of qualified buyers, including private equity interested in entering the CAS industry, technology providers considering adding service capabilities, independent national accounting firms and accounting firms backed by private equity capital, each pursuing acquisition driven growth. Stage one of the process generated strong interest and multiple competitive proposals. Working closely with the leadership team, BCA prepared and supported the Company through management presentations with a selected group of buyers, culminating in a final bidding process. BCA assisted the Company in evaluating each option, and conducted negotiations, and ensured alignment with Acuity’s goals for its clients, employees, and long-term strategy.

Result

Acuity was acquired by Sorren, a newly formed national accounting firm platform created by DFW Capital Partners and ranked among the top fifty accounting organizations in the United States. Sorren was the culmination of acquisitions of several high growth accounting firms across the U.S. which created a scaled platform with a national presence. Acuity became the firm’s dedicated client accounting services division. Joining Sorren provided Acuity with expanded resources, a broader national footprint, and a stronger foundation for long-term growth.

The transaction delivered liquidity to certain shareholders, while creating meaningful leadership opportunities for others within a larger organization. The outcome reflects a well-aligned partnership that preserved Acuity’s commitment to its clients and employees, and supported the Company’s next stage of growth within a scaled national platform.
